Physical Activity & Healthy Development in Children (CSP-NMF-056)

Physical activity in childhood does far more than keep children fit. It builds brain function, social skills, emotional regulation, and the movement foundations that determine how capable and confident a child is for the rest of their life. But most Australian children are not getting nearly enough of it. Across 3 modules, you will explore the physical developmental milestones of childhood, Australia's physical activity guidelines, the role of structured and unstructured play in physical development, and how to design and deliver age-appropriate movement experiences that children actually want to participate in. This course is designed for early childhood educators, sport coaches, teachers, health workers, and parents who want a deeper understanding of how physical activity shapes development.
